  Just stopping in to say Hi....guess what I have.....

  yes, it's been awhile, as you can see, i've been a little busy....lol.

  anyway, i named him cash (i love his name), he will be 3 weeks old tomorrow.

  i forgot how much work it is to take care of a newborn, but it's all worth it.

  Thank you so much cantleave and chester. I feel like this is a turning point in my JW experience. It felt very empowering to be able to talk about my journey. My goal was to be honest without sounding like either a "raging apostate" or a timid apologist. I think I managed to find the middle ground and hope that even an active JW could listen to the interview and be able to identify with it.

  What a scary nerve wrecking Day

  my son's girlfriends mom has an abusive boyfriend .

  today he has had her hostage by gun point all morning .. just now the police got her out to safety .. during the ordeal he called my son and made drunken threats to him too .. i am a nervous wreck .

  the police has the whole downtown evacuated and on close down until the issue is resolved .

  Where Are You From?

  alot of members don't have a flag or country name beside their user name, and well frequently one doesn't know where that particular person is from, tell us your country, state, county or what ever you feel like giving out.

  if you are going to post please at least devulge your country.. me, i'm originally from taranaki, new zealand via auckland.

  for the most of this decade i have been living & working in brisbane, queensland, australia.. .

  JW Friend Contacted Me...

  this seems to be a big week for me with all things jw-related.

  i made my reappearance here a few days back after a two year absence.

  i recently did a podcast interview on my experiences as a jw (i'll post the link on friday when it is up online) and now i've been contacted out of the blue on facebook by a gal who was a close friend of mine back in my jw days.

  first new topic for me.. i have observed this site for about 4 years.

  haven't been to a meeting since oct 2005. definitely feel jws are a high control group that mirrors many of the definitions of a cult.. i was raised as a witness since age 5, left at age 38, now 43. happily married to a wonderful woman for 24 years, except for 1 year of separation when i was failing miserable in a search for my true self - hard to do when you were completely sucked into this religion.

  yes, i was a true believer pretty much up into my late 30s.

  It's funny you mention living with a gay man for a while and finding that he really understood "being different" and finding your own way in life. I've found that the gay friends I have understand my JW experience very well. Whenever I talk about what I went through in leaving the JW's and coming to terms with who I am outside of the org, they relate it to their coming out of the closet.

  I'm so happy for you that you are surrounded by such wonderful family. And your wife going to Uni at age 44...BRAVO to her!

  This seems to be a big week for me with all things JW-related. I made my reappearance here a few days back after a two year absence. I recently did a podcast interview on my experiences as a JW (I'll post the link on Friday when it is up online) and now I've been contacted out of the blue on Facebook by a gal who was a close friend of mine back in my JW days.

  This JW friend married one of my best male JW friends. Actually, their wedding was the last JW function I attended four years ago before disassociating. So, I get this facebook message from her a few days ago and she wants to meet up for coffee. She's divorced now, been disfellowshipped for a year and is happier than ever. She said she's "making her way back" but that's "another story". I was clear that I'm not a JW nor will ever be one again. She said that's cool, no problem, and she can't wait to see me and talk to someone who's "been there".

  Life is bizarre sometimes. Fact is so much stranger than fiction. I wonder what's going to happen next.

  Lost life

  a long time bethel member came home a few months ago.

  he had been at bethel for 20 plus years.

  last weekend he took his life by a gun.

  Strange but I came across a photo today of a JW friend that killed himself about five years ago. He went out into the woods and shot himself with a rifle. There are always more questions than answers when someone commits suicide.

  My condolences to all who have lost friends this way. It's a tough thing to reconcile no matter how much time has passed.
